Marty Parker, President and CEO, Waterstone Human Capital

Marty Parker, President and CEO

Marty is the country’s leading expert on Human Capital, and is a frequent commentator on issues surrounding corporate leadership and organizational culture. He has written for the National Post, Canadian Business and Profit, and has appeared on Canada AM, BNN and CP24. He also publishes a regular newsletter called The Waterline: Highs and Lows in Leadership and Corporate Culture.

Marty founded Waterstone Human Capital in 2003, and the Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures program in 2005.

Formerly, Marty was managing director and partner with The Caldwell Partners International, and was executive vice-president of The CCL Group, a leading marketing communications group of companies. His  earlier career was with Johnson & Johnson and Labatt Breweries, where he held progressively senior sales and marketing positions.

Marty is a member of the Entrepreneur’s Organization, and a former director of VON Canada and Junior Achievement. He holds a Bachelor of Arts as well as a Master of Science from the University of Guelph.

Alan Small, Managing Director

Alan has been conducting executive search for the past 20 years at the CEO and senior management level in a variety of functional areas, including finance, marketing, lending services, human resources and information technology, focusing on the financial, not-for-profit and association sectors.

Prior to joining Waterstone, Alan was Managing Director, Canada, of DHR International, the fifth largest retained executive search firm in the United States, and a partner in the financial services practice of Odgers Berndtson.

Alan began his career in the international banking group of the Toronto-Dominion Bank. He held senior level positions in the comptroller's division, serving as Senior Manager, Business Planning, and later assumed responsibility for the bank's clients in the cable and telecommunications industry as an account manager within the corporate and investment banking group. He then joined Central1, a trade association serving credit unions in Ontario and British Columbia, as Vice President, Human Resources and Development. When Central1 spun off a separate consulting entity, Alan was appointed Executive Vice President and Managing Partner of CCG Management Consultants.

Alan holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) as well as a Certified Management Consultant (CMC). He is a member of the Ivey Alumni Board and is Chair of the Corporate Governance Committee.

Karl Parker, Partner, Waterstone Human Capital

Karl Parker, Partner

Karl Parker brings life sciences experience to the Waterstone Human Capital Ltd. team. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Karl enjoyed a 23-year career with Pfizer Canada Inc., where he held progressively more senior roles in sales, marketing, national accounts, communications and government affairs.

His search experience includes successful executive level placements in retail, manufacturing, print and online media, corporate finance and life sciences.

Karl resides in Deep Cove, British Columbia and he and his wife Allison are avid Pacific Northwest boaters.

Anjalee Kant, Director of Research and Consultant

Anjalee began her career in executive search in 2000 as a research associate for a leading multinational search firm where she worked across all industry sectors and function levels. As the sole researcher, Anjalee was responsible for delivering information within the Canadian marketplace and to all industry practices across the globe. As the research function evolved within the firm, Anjalee became the only member of the Knowledge Management team that represented Canada. She actively assisted in the training and development program for the researchers at the newly created Knowledge Management Center in India.

As a research manager for Canada’s largest private search firm, Anjalee was responsible for successfully putting a research department in place while building, mentoring and managing the research team.

As the Director of Research for a successful boutique firm in Toronto, her role evolved to include project management and execution where she identified, qualified and presented talent. She was also responsible for the training and development of the Associate team.

Lisa Hoff, Research Consultant

Lisa is a creative research professional with over 10 years of experience in the retained search industry. With an extensive background in coordination, organization, administration and management within the executive search industry, as well as experience outside the industry in a highly regulated sector, Lisa is able to develop creative research strategies that ensure quality placements for her clients. As a proven team player she is customer-oriented and passionate about providing the best solutions for her clients.

Prior to joining Waterstone, Lisa led a number of searches in a variety of industries – including financial services, manufacturing, telecommunications, as well as in the public sector – for Boyden Global Executive. While at The Caldwell Partners International, Lisa coordinated a variety of high-profile board and senior executive searches across Canada, and was also the National Coordinator of Public Service Practice (where she completed the search for the very first selection of Deputy Ministers for Nunavut).

Lisa is a Certified Level 2 Ski Instructor and was a director of the all-volunteer board for the High Park Ski Club for 4 years. She continues to stay connected in the volunteer world in a variety of roles.

Christine Gilmore, Client Services Associate

Christine brings years of experience in customer service to the team at Waterstone.

As the advertising systems manager for The Toronto Sun, Christine was responsible for developing training material for the paper’s sales representatives and was also accountable for all day-to-day systems functions. Christine also ran a team of 14 at a classified call centre, where she established a successful “customer care program”. Her experience in media and customer service was further developed at The Brampton Guardian, where she was a classified sales representative for six years.

Christine is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario, and also holds a diploma in advertising from Sheridan College.

Sue Raposo, Client Services Associate

Sue has over 10 years of experience working in results-driven environments including executive search, career transition and finance. 

Prior to joining Waterstone, Sue worked at The Caldwell Partners International as well as at Boyden Global Executive, honing her skills as a specialist in the administration of C-Suite recruitment. Her experience in the human capital arena was further defined at Knightsbridge Human Capital where she worked with the firm's global partner, coordinating and facilitating career transition services.

Sue is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario where she obtained her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in English.

Jennifer Mondoux, Director of Marketing and Communications

Jennifer's career in marketing and communications began in the late 1990s, at Citytv, where she was the producer and senior manager of the annual ideaCity Conference, a position she held for seven years. As an entrepreneur, she co-ran a successful event marketing, public relations and communications firm, handling a number of national, multi-city, high-profile corporate and cultural events for a variety of clients, including Maclean's, Canadian Business, Chatelaine, The Rotman School of Management, The City of Toronto and The Canadian International Council.

Jennifer is also a writer, publicist and media trainer, and continues to secure front-page coverage and prime-time broadcast interviews with the national media on behalf of Waterstone.

A graduate of Queen's University, Jennifer also holds a journalism degree from Ryerson.
