“This award recognizes the importance of great workplaces, but more importantly – great workplaces where culture impacts performance,” says Marty Parker, the president and CEO of Waterstone Human Capital; the founders and presenters of the program. “A strong corporate culture is the single greatest asset an organization can have and the really great organizations, like our regional winners, know this – they understand that culture provides a competitive advantage that sets them apart from their peers.”

This is the 6th year of the Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures program, and the first year the regional qualification element has been included.

“The competition was even tougher than in 2009, which in and of itself was a record-setting year for Canada’s 10 in terms of nominations and submissions,” says Parker. “Like our board of governors, we were thoroughly impressed with both the exceptional quality of the submissions and the level of engagement on the part of the nominated organizations for the 2010 program.”

Regional award events will be held across the country in October and November:

Central Canada:
Tuesday, October 19th, 2010, Toronto

Quebec & Atlantic Canada:
Monday, October 25th, 2010, Montreal

Western Canada:
Monday, November 1st, 2010, Calgary
Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010, Vancouver

This year saw a 30 per cent increase over 2009, in terms of the number of organizations proceeding with a formal submission to the program. In-person interviews were held this past summer, across the country, between Waterstone Human Capital and senior executives from the submitting organizations. The program’s 24-member Board of Governors, consisting of top executives from many leading organizations from across Canada, voted on the submissions and chose the regional winners at the end of September.

Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures’ Board of Governors will reconvene and choose the national winners, as well as the two special category national winners, in early November. Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures of 2010 will be celebrated at the 6th annual gala, to be held on February 7th, 2011, in Toronto.
