Waterstone was founded in 2003 as a retained executive search firm focused on recruiting for fit. The firm developed
it's Recruit4Fit™ search process to find candidates that fit the unique cultures of its clients. Waterstone developed proprietary behavioural processes including cultural assessments, directed referencing™ and behavioural-based business case presentations which enabled the firm to recruit with exceptional accuracy for fit and therefore creating outstanding results for its clients.

In 2015, Waterstone created the Waterstone Culture Dashboard™, an annual survey of your team members that is designed to help you do two things: to identify and articulate your culture; and, to benchmark your culture against the behaviours that drive winning cultures – specifically, those of Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures™.
The Waterstone Culture Dashboard™ emerged from years of research and detailed analysis of the data from hundreds of submissions to Waterstone’s Canada’s 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures™, an annual program now in its 11th year that recognizes leading organizations for having cultures that drive performance. The result is that 10 cultural behavioural drivers have been identifed in this dashboard as having the most impact on results in best-in-class cultures.
The Waterstone Culture Dashboard™ has passed a series of psychometric and reliability tests. This includes demonstrating that the items function appropriately and that the data supports the structuring of the items into the specified dimensions. This supports the ability of the tool to measure culture consistently, with high-reliability 5 or 7-point scales for each of the 10 culture indexes in the model. The tool has the added ability of measuring not only individual-level perceptions of culture accurately but also the aggregate of those perceptions (to get an accurate read on the culture of the organization as a whole). This measurement has shown strong agreement and reliability between these two levels, suggesting that individual ratings on the tool can indeed be aggregated to the organization-level. Our data has consistently reported positive and statistically signicant relationships between the 10 culture indexes and a range of organizational performance criteria. This means the Waterstone Culture Dashboard™ can also show how an organization performs over time – critical analysis and insight for organizations looking to move the needle on organizational performance.

Marty, a leading executive human capital and executive search professional, conducts senior level searches across a variety of industries around the globe. Working with a diverse group of global organizations and leaders, he supports many entrepreneurial leaders in an advisory capacity on a variety of human capital issues where the power of culture can align human capital and human capital systems to drive performance. Marty is Canada's leading expert on issues surrounding corporate culture, leadership and executive search. He has provided expert commentary for CNBC, the National Post, Canadian Business and Profit, and has appeared on Canada AM, BNN and CP24.
Marty is the author of Culture Connection: How Developing a Winning Culture Will Give Your Organization a Competitive Advantage, published in 2011 by McGraw-Hill Ryerson. Culture Connection highlights how a selection of global organizations utilize their culture to drive exceptional business performance and sustain a competitive advantage. He also writes a monthly digital newsletter, Culture Connection, which draws the link between how to use culture as competitive advantage to drive performance.
Marty founded Waterstone Human Capital in 2003. Waterstone’s purpose is to build great organizations by aligning human capital and organizational culture to drive higher performance. Under Marty’s leadership, Waterstone has become one of the most progressive cultural talent management firms that identifies, articulates and measures corporate culture, recruits for fit and aligns corporate culture to drive higher levels of performance through its consulting and advisory services. In 2015, Waterstone launched the Waterstone Culture Dashboard, a ten minute team member survey that both defines and articulates corporate culture and benchmarks it against best in class organizations. Marty is also the founder of The Canadian Corporate Culture Study and the Canada's 10 Most Admired Corporate Cultures program. Founded in 2004, the program annually recognizes best-in-class Canadian organizations for having a culture that has helped them enhance performance and sustain a competitive advantage.
Formerly, Marty was managing director and partner with The Caldwell Partners International, and was executive vice-president of The CCL Group, a leading marketing communications group of companies. His earlier career was with Johnson & Johnson and Labatt Breweries, where he held progressively senior sales and marketing positions.
Marty is a very active member of the Young Presidents Organization (YPO), having memberships in both the Maple Leaf and Great Lakes Ontario chapters. He is the current education chair and the former Chapter Chair for YPO Great Lakes Ontario. He also sits
on the Canadian Advisory Board for CLG, a global leader of behaviour-based strategy execution and performance improvement consulting.
Marty and his wife Tanya live in Mississauga, Ontario with their five children. He holds a Bachelor of Arts, with Honours as well as a Master of Science degree from the University of Guelph. Marty loves all sports, coaching, fitness, reading and personal and professional development.

Karl Parker brings life sciences experience to the Waterstone Human Capital Ltd. team. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Karl enjoyed a 23-year career with Pfizer Canada Inc., where he held progressively more senior roles in sales, marketing, national accounts, communications and government affairs.
His search experience includes successful executive level placements in retail, manufacturing, print and online media, corporate finance and life sciences.
Karl resides in Deep Cove, British Columbia and he and his wife Allison are avid Pacific Northwest boaters.
Waterstone is a cultural talent management firm that uses the power of culture to drive organizational performance. The firm does this in a number of ways including cultural assessment and identification; cultural benchmarking and measurement through the Waterstone Culture Dashboard; advisory services focused on culture as competitive advantage; and, executive search and recruiting for fit.
With the firm since 2009, Jennifer is now managing director and specializes in senior-level search across a variety of industries on behalf of Waterstone's clients, placing candidates in leading roles throughout the Greater Toronto Area, Southwestern Ontario and Ottawa. She has also led senior assignments across Canada and the U.S., as well as in the U.K and Europe.
In the past year alone, Jennifer has successfully filled 20+ high-level senior executive roles, including two chief information officer roles, an executive vice president of people and culture role, three vice president roles in engineering, a practice lead role for a leading insurance brokerage and consulting operation, a Canadian national director role for a leading international not-for-profit, a director of operations role for a high-growth disruptive technology business in the retail technology space, as well as a managing director role in Europe for a high-growth Canadian software developer.
Jennifer also plays an oversight and advisory role in the planning and execution of the firm’s Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures and Most Admired CEO programs and national events. A journalist by training, she still loves to interview and enjoys moderating and hosting sessions, as well as curating content, as she did at the 2015 Corporate Culture Summit, also produced by Waterstone. She was also chair of the Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures Growth and Small Cap Committee for the 2015 vote and serves as the main point of contact with committee members who are CEOs and HR/people/talent leaders from leading Canadian organizations.
Operationally, Jennifer has led Waterstone’s positioning and branding, marketing and communications, the research and client services group, in-house recruitment and talent management, as well as corporate services and IT.
Jennifer started her career back in the day as a summer intern at The Hamilton Spectator. After working in television, she then moved over to content production, at Citytv, where she was the producer and senior manager of the annual ideaCity Conference, a position
she held for seven years. As an entrepreneur, she co-ran a successful public relations
and communications firm from 2003 to 2009, working with a number of national,
high-profile corporate and cultural clients, before she moved over to Waterstone –
where she found her true calling.
A graduate of Queen’s University with a BA Honours in political studies, Jennifer also holds a post-graduate journalism degree from Ryerson University. She is fluently bilingual.

Steve Parker is the Founder of CCL Group, an organization with national interests in strategic marketing and communications companies and over 600 employees.
Curently, CCL Group's major investment is Blue Ocean Contact Centres, an international leader in enhanced customer support and business process outsourcing.
Steve is a member of the Jr. Achievement Nova Scotia Business Hall of Fame and the Atlantic Business Magazine’s Top 50 CEO Hall of Fame.
He is Chair of the Board of Directors of Medavie Blue Cross, a member of the Board of Directors of the Blue Cross Life Insurance Company of Canada, a Director of the C.D. Howe Institute as well as a number of private companies including Stanfield's Limited and Heritage Gas Limited.
Steve is a Fellow of the Canadian Public Relations Society. He has received the Society’s major prizes for outstanding contributions to public relations in Canada (Novikoff Award) and for distinguished service in the public interest (Shield of Service Award.)
CCL Group has been twice named Corporate Philanthropist of the year in Nova Scotia for efforts on behalf of Junior Achievement, United Way and others.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Young Presidents Organization, Steve was selected for YPO’s highest award, The Legacy Honour. This is presented to one member in each Chapter around the world who exemplifies YPO’s business and personal qualities.

Mike Cordoba has 20 years of diverse business experience. He has managed a portfolio of public and private companies with $1 billion in total revenue in various industries including restaurants, retail, manufacturing and processing and real estate. In his executive capacity he has built companies from the ground up to become industry leaders in their segments. His expertise in M&A activity is highly regarded in the marketplace.
Mike was formerly Chief Executive Officer of Boston Pizza International Inc. Since joining the company in 1993, Mike held various senior management positions, including President and Chief Operating Officer, Executive Vice President and Vice President of Finance.
Prior to joining Boston Pizza International Inc., Mike served as Controller for Eye Masters Ltd.; a Vancouver, BC based super optical retail company, for three years. Prior to this, he worked in a public practice as a Chartered Accountant in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In 2001, he was named one of Canada's Top 40 Under 40-award recipients.
Mike is a Chartered Accountant and has a degree in Business Administration from Simon Fraser University. He keeps active in his community by participating in various local charity events.
Managing Director, Operations and Culture
Tamara joined Waterstone Human Capital in 2016 as Managing Director of Operations and Culture. In this role she oversees teams leading executive search, marketing and communications, and IT. She is also accountable to create and drive the HR and corporate culture strategy for employee experience at the firm.
An exceptional coach and people-leader, Tamara has spent the past 16 years in senior positions for both corporate and agency.
Prior to joining Waterstone she was the Vice President, Marketing for Futurpreneur Canada (formerly Canadian Youth Business Foundation) where she led a comprehensive rebrand project including board reporting, qualitative and quantitative research with stakeholders, and rollout of a multi-channel launch campaign. Tamara also spent 12 years on the agency side, developing retail brands.
Tamara has a Certificate in Costume Studies from Dalhousie University, a BAA Merchandising Communications from Ryerson University, and an MBA (marketing and strategic planning majors) from the Schulich School of Business, as well as the CSC and ABC.
